Your first visit.

We believe patients should never feel rushed through an important surgical consultation. At Oaks Oral Surgery & Periodontics, we take the time to sit down with you, review your health history, perform a detailed examination, obtain any necessary imaging, and answer every question you may have before moving forward with treatment. Our team will also review your insurance coverage and provide a clear, honest breakdown of treatment recommendations and expected costs before any procedure is performed. We work closely with your referring dentist so everyone involved in your care stays informed throughout the process.

Two ways to schedule

We offer two formats for your first visit. Tell us when you book which one fits your situation best, and we’ll plan the time accordingly.

Option 1

Consultation only

About an hour. We diagnose, explain, and plan. Treatment is scheduled for a future date once you’ve had time to consider your options. Best for complex cases or if you prefer to think things over before committing.

Option 2

Consultation + same-day surgery

We diagnose, plan, and treat in a single visit. Best for straightforward procedures like a tooth extraction or implant placement when imaging and travel logistics are easier to handle once. Plan for two to three hours total.

What happens during your visit

  • A thorough review of your medical and dental history with the surgeon themselves — not delegated.
  • 3D CBCT imaging in office when needed for implants, wisdom teeth, or complex extractions.
  • A focused examination of the area of concern.
  • A clear, written treatment plan explaining the recommended procedure, alternatives, expected recovery, and a transparent estimate of cost.
  • Time and space to ask every question before any treatment is scheduled.

What to bring

  • A photo ID and your insurance card.
  • A list of current medications, including over-the-counter and supplements.
  • Any imaging or records from your referring dentist that haven’t already been sent to us.
  • If you’re bringing a minor: a parent or legal guardian must be present, or have written consent on file.

Paperwork before your visit

We’ll send your new-patient paperwork as a secure link before your appointment so you can fill it out at home. If you’d prefer paper forms or to come in 15 minutes early to complete them in office, just let us know when you book.
