Emergency same-day tooth.

At Oaks Oral Surgery & Periodontics, many failing or broken front teeth can be replaced in a single visit using a minimally invasive immediate implant approach. In appropriate cases, we can gently remove the damaged tooth, place a dental implant, and attach a temporary crown the same day — allowing patients to leave the office with a natural-looking tooth already in place.

What is emergency same-day tooth?

Same-day tooth replacement combines surgical extraction of a failing front tooth, immediate placement of a dental implant into the same socket, and attachment of a fixed cosmetic provisional crown — all in a single 2–3 hour visit. The provisional is shaped to stay out of the bite while the implant integrates; the final crown is placed 3–4 months later. Candidacy depends on adequate bone, healthy gum, and absence of acute infection, and is confirmed with 3D imaging.

The problem this solves

A front tooth that breaks, falls out, or is suddenly non-restorable is more than a clinical issue — it affects how you talk, smile, eat, and present yourself. Traditional treatment can leave you with a gap or a removable temporary for months while you heal and plan.

For carefully-selected cases, we can do everything in one visit: remove the failing tooth, place an implant immediately, and attach a tooth that looks like a tooth before you leave.

What "same-day" actually means

In one visit you receive: surgical extraction of the failing tooth (gentle, atraumatic technique to preserve the socket walls), immediate placement of a properly-positioned implant into the same socket, and attachment of a fixed provisional crown that you can smile with.

The provisional is purely cosmetic and shaped to stay out of your bite. It looks like a tooth but doesn’t bear chewing force while the implant integrates. Three to four months later, your restorative dentist places the final crown.

Who is a candidate

Not every case is a same-day case. Adequate bone, good gum health, no acute infection, and a controllable bite are all needed. We evaluate this carefully with 3D imaging — and tell you honestly if a slower, two-stage approach will produce a better result for you.

When time matters

For acute fractures or recent tooth loss, call us promptly at (805) 372-2342. The sooner we evaluate, the more options we have. For pre-planned cases (a tooth your dentist says won’t last another year), schedule a consultation so we can plan ahead.

FAQ

Common questions

Can every front tooth be replaced same-day?

No. It depends on the bone, gum, and bite. We assess each case individually with 3D imaging.

Will the temporary tooth match my other teeth?

Closely, yes — though it’s a chairside provisional, not a custom-made crown. The final crown 3–4 months later is the one designed for ideal aesthetics.

Can I eat with the temporary?

Soft foods and gentle chewing on the other side. The temporary is shaped to stay out of your bite so it doesn’t load the integrating implant.
